Dear Austin Global Methodist Church,
My family and I are blessed and excited to begin a new ministry chapter at Austin Global Methodist Church. We had so much fun getting to know everyone at the party on June 22 and preaching on June 23. Everyone has been so welcoming and Austin is already feeling like home.
On July 7th, I will preach my first official sermon as your pastor. Oftentimes, a pastor’s first sermon is an awkward “Get to Know Me” sermon but that’s not my style. This Sunday, I’ll be preaching a sermon called “Everyone Has a Story to Tell”. My prayer is to avoid the awkward and leave you all with an inspiring message, encouraging everyone to be ready to share their testimony as the most effective witnessing tool.
Consider the words of the Apostle Peter from I Peter 3:15, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” May we strive to always be prepared to give an answer for the hope we have through Jesus.
In the rapidly growing Austin area, we have a unique opportunity to be the light. We have something to offer the world. We have Jesus. We have a church that offers biblical, Wesleyan Christian community. Let us be prepared and ready to boldly share what Jesus has done for us. Let’s bring the Word of God into the city of Austin!
