WITNESS SPOTLIGHT: SUSAN MONROE

What is something unique about you?
One thing that is unique about me that people find interesting is that my first husband was, and still is, a Methodist Pastor. So, I was a Pastors wife for 26 years. And even more amazing is that he, his wife and I are actually friends!

What do you like most about Austin Global Methodist Church?
What I am enjoying most about the Austin Global Methodist Church is the spirit of revival present in every service and the loving kindness of the church family.

What would be your dream vacation?
My dream vacation would be traveling to Australia and snorkeling the Great Barrier reef in Queensland.

What would be your dream dinner?
My dream dinner would be any meal shared with family and friends; the food choice would not really matter.

What is your favorite hymn or worship song and why?
Currently my favorite worship song is "Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone" as it bears witness to the redeeming power of Jesus' death on the cross and the freedom that his death brings to our daily existence.

What story in the Bible do you enjoy the most?
My favorite Bible story is the life of Moses starting in Exodus 2. I am amazed at how the Lord had his hand on Moses throughout his entire lifetime.

What cause or mission is most important to you and why?
Women's ministry or, seeing women experience Jesus and becoming all that He created them to be is my passion.
ADMIN BOARD SPOTLIGHT: JON LANDER

What is something unique about you?
I am a toy train operator and collector; American Flyer S Gauge trains is my primary area of interest. I have a train layout that I enjoy sharing and running the trains for "children" of all ages.

What do you like most about Austin Global Methodist Church?
The welcoming joy and love that everyone shares at each Sunday worship or at other AGMC get togethers.

What would be your dream vacation?
I may have already taken it on the train trip on the Rocky Mountaineer through northwest Canada in 2014.

What would be your dream dinner?
Texas BBQ or Mexican, i.e. Camino Reale

What is your favorite hymn or worship song and why?
In the Garden: A favorite of family members and I listen to the Alan Jackson version on my phone.

What story in the Bible do you enjoy the most?
Not a story but John 3:16 is my favorite Bible passage. My Great Grandfather mentioned going to church on Sunday several times in his Civil War Diary. The only time he said anything about the service was on 11/15/63 when he stated that the Chaplain used the text from John 3:16 for his sermon that day.

What cause or mission is most important to you and why?
Meals on Wheels: Delivering meals to people who are in need twice a week is rewarding, and we (Brenda and I) receive more blessings from it than what we can ever give in return to the recipients.
